Internet Explorer has received a lot of flak in the past for obvious reasons. It is slow, buggy and is generally a security nightmare. There are probably more exploits discovered everday for IE than for the whole windows operating system.
In March this year, Microsoft released Internet Explorer 8 which was an attempt to rectify some of the mistakes that Microsoft made in the past.
Now, as browsers go, IE 8 is a decent attempt. But, one problem area it still suffers from is that it is too slow. Even a task as simple as opening a new Tab takes forever .. right ? Well, have you ever thought that the problem might actually lie somewhere else ?
If you’ve ever opened a new tab in IE and stared at the “Connecting…”, you can understand how being stood up by IE feels.

In IE 8, Microsoft has added a new column named Load time, to the “Manage Add-Ons” window. Click on Tools->Manage Add-ons and you will see the Load time column at the far right.
As you can see, the first Add-on that I use takes, on an average, 0.23 seconds to start, the second one 0.11 seconds and so on.
My Add-ons don’t take a lot of time to start so I don’t really need to make any changes to my setup, but if you have Add-ons that take longer than, say, a second to load, you should think about keeping them enabled. Try disabling a few Add-ons and see if that makes a difference to how Internet Explorer behaves.
Let me know if this tip was of any help to you guys.
