Kallow aims to simplify electronic shopping for the non-geeks

kallow

Kallow is a new web service designed to make it easier for the non-geeks to purchase electronic online.

Purchasing electronics online is a mess ! And Kallow aims to solve that problem by doing all the heavy lifting itself and presenting the user with just a single choice. So, all the user has to do is visit Kallow select the product he/she wants and buy it.

It is a very neat idea and something I can see a lot of use for. Just think about it, how many times have you wanted to purchase something and came back overwhelmed with the amount of choice available in the market, or disappointed with the lack of knowledge that the sales people have about the products they’re trying to sell. Go to any store and you’ll have the same problem.

How Kallow works is that they have a list of categories which they track for any new gadgets that may have been released in the market. They then manually go through the reviews online or actually review the product and narrow the choice down to just one product, which is what they recommend to the users.

So, for example, if you’re interested in purchasing a Digital SLR right now, your best option right now according to Kallow would be the Canon Digital Rebel XSi.

While you might not agree with some of the results that Kallow shows, the idea is not to appeal to the geeks among us who like to research and buy electronics. For someone not inclined to research and narrow down choices (Like my parents, for example), this is an excellent way to shop online.

Thanks for the Kallow review, we really appreciate it.

As you discussed, we focus on making the process of buying electronics easy, because today it is confusing and time consuming for most people.

    Thanks,

I think this would work better if Kallow showed more than 1 option. It should atleast ask some relevant questions before giving the user a purchase option. How does kallow know my budget? They didnt ask me, Do I have a brand preference? I may not be the researching kind but i maybe partial to samsung!

Having browser Kallow for some time now, I think it might seem like they are promoting one product over the other rather than giving an unbiased opinion, no matter what kind of tech they are using under ti all.

@Abhilash: As far as I can see, Kallow isn’t even using an algorithm for displaying product options. With such a limited choice, they seem to be mostly reviewing and selecting products manually.

Yes, I also agree that they should be giving the user more options but the point is that if the user can decide what options he is interested in for a particular product, then he might as well use google.

Like I said, you and I are probably not going to use Kallow ever, but our grandparents might find the service useful.

They should, at the minimum, consider a persons budget for any article.
